When you arrive at IXB Airport or NJP Railway Station, you will be received and transferred to your hotel in Darjeeling (6,950 ft). Check in at the hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure. During your leisure time, you can go on your own and visit Darjeeling Mall, Chowrasta, Then have pleasant sleep back at the hotel.
Wake up early and start your drive to Tiger Hill (8,400 ft, 13 km from Darjeeling) at 4 AM. This is a popular spot for catching a spectacular sunrise over Mt. Khangchendzongha (28,208 ft), the 3rd highest peak in the world. The multi-hued colors of the sun reflect on the snow-capped peaks of Khangchendzongha and radiate a magical feeling. As you return, make a visit to the famous Ghoom Monastery (home to a 15 ft tall Buddha statue) and Batasia Loop. Then have a refreshing breakfast and head to other places of interest such as the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee self-help Centre (closed on Sundays), Japanese Temple, Tea Garden (outer view), Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (closed on Thursdays) and Ropeway. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is India's biggest high altitude zoo (7,000 ft), which is home to myriad animals that are acclimatized to alpine conditions. The evening is free for shopping or leisure. Stay overnight in Darjeeling.
Have a filling breakfast and be transferred to Kalimpong (3,950 ft). On arrival, check in at the hotel and relax for a while. In the noon, go on a half day Kalimpong tour and visit popular sites such as Deolo Hill, Dr. Grahams Home, Durpin Dara Hills, Golf Garden, Mangal Dham (a temple dedicated to Guruji Shri Mangaldasji) and Pine View Nursery. Kalimpong stands on two hills and one of them is the Deolo Hill. It is one of the popular attractions here and offers splendid views of the town from the top. Durpin Dara Hill is the other hill on which the town resides. Standing at 4,500 feet, the hill promises panoramic views of the town and the snow-kissed mountains. Lastly, return to Kalimpong and get a good night's rest.
After breakfast, you will be transferred from Kalimpong to Gangtok (5,500 ft). On arrival, check in at the hotel and freshen up. Later in the noon, proceed for a half day city tour covering the Flower Show, Dro-dul Chorten, Handicraft Centre, Enchey Monastery, Institute of Tibetology, Cottage Industry and Banjakhri Falls (maximum 3-4 hours). Enchey Monastery is one of the major religious Buddhist sites and is believed to have been blessed by saint "Drubthob Karpo". Dro-dul Chorten is another golden-domed stupa situated close to the Institute of Tibetology. A visit to the cottage industry will give you an insight into the craftsmanship of the locals, with beautiful creations of paintings, handicrafts etc. Return to the hotel in Gangtok for overnight stay.
Have a delicious breakfast and get ready for an excursion to the beautiful Tsomgo Lake (12,300 ft). The lake is major tourist attraction as well as a sacred site of the locals. Then head to Baba Mandir (13,200 ft), which is located at about 55 km (one way) from Gangtok city. It is a famous temple dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh, a brave soldier of the Indian Army, who was martyred near the Nathula Pass. After exploring these places of interest, return to the hotel for overnight stay.
After a refreshing breakfast, check out from the hotel and be transferred to NJP Railway Station or IXB Airport ((120 km / 5 hrs) for your onward journey.
